World Neuroendocrine Tumour Awareness Day, observed annually on 10 November, raises awareness of neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) and the challenges associated with their diagnosis and treatment.
Neuroendocrine tumours are a diverse group of cancers that can develop in different organs and may vary considerably in their behaviour, symptoms and treatment. Their often non-specific symptoms can make diagnosis challenging.
The annual observance brings greater visibility to these relatively uncommon tumours and highlights the importance of timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment and access to specialised care.
Healthcare professionals, patient organisations, researchers and communities use the occasion to share information, support people affected by NETs and encourage continued research and collaboration.
