World Pancreatic Cancer Day, observed annually on the third Thursday of November, raises awareness of pancreatic cancer and highlights the challenges associated with the disease.
Pancreatic cancer can be difficult to detect at an early stage, and symptoms may be non-specific. Increasing awareness of risk factors, symptoms and available diagnostic and treatment options is therefore an important part of efforts to improve outcomes.
The annual observance brings together healthcare professionals, patient organisations, researchers and communities to share information, support people affected by pancreatic cancer and highlight the importance of research.
It also draws attention to the need for continued progress in prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and access to high-quality cancer care.
