IARC@60 INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE: CANCER RESEARCH INTO ACTION

May 19 @ 09:00 - May 21 @ 18:00

The IARC@60 Conference: Cancer Research into Action is a major global scientific conference organized by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, part of the World Health Organization, to mark the 60th anniversary of the agency’s founding.

This three-day scientific conference aims to bring together researchers, public health professionals, policymakers, and advocates from around the world to discuss how advances in cancer research can be translated into meaningful public health action. It celebrates six decades of progress in understanding cancer and focuses on shaping the future of cancer prevention and control globally.

Focus and Themes

The conference revolves around three core themes:

  1. Discovery and Innovation for Cancer Prevention — Highlighting cutting-edge research into causes of cancer and preventive science.
  2. Translating Research into Public Health Action — Exploring how evidence can be implemented in real-world settings to reduce cancer burden.
  3. Science–Policy Interface for Global Change — Examining how scientific evidence can inform and influence policies for equitable cancer control.

Interactive sessions, plenary talks, poster presentations, and discussions are designed to foster collaboration across disciplines and sectors. A special public-facing session will also engage broader audiences on topics like scientific literacy and misinformation.

eCAN Plus partners from Sciensano will present a poster of the project to inform scientists about the progress made after one year
