SUMMARY:Workshop - Barriers and Facilitators of Virtual Tumor Boards and Digital Transitions in Europe
DESCRIPTION:The eCAN Plus Joint Action is a flagship EU project in digital oncology and cross-border health data exchange\, with a focus on improving cancer prevention\, treatment\, and follow-up care strategies. As part of this effort\, Work Package 6 (WP6) focuses on collaborative clinical decision-making in diagnostics\, treatment\, and care across Cancer Centres (CCs). Clinical and technical experts are invited to join the expert board created by this WP and join the in-person workshop that will start next June 17th in Denmark. \nExperts from across Europe\, with strong background and activity in Virtual Tumor Boards (VTBs) and Digital Transitions (DTs)\, will meet in Odense from the 17th to the 18th of June. The purpose of this workshop is twofold: \n\nAssess existing national guidelines\, European Health Data Exchange (EHDS) regulations and frameworks for digital collaboration and health data exchange across CCs mapped by WP6.\nDefine the relevant clinical data required to support two use cases. WP6 will evaluate digital capabilities for health data exchange and virtual collaboration\, based on two use cases:\n\nUse of cross-European Virtual Tumor Boards\, including Virtual Molecular Tumor Boards.\nDigitally facilitated patient transitions\, including the use of Discharge Conferences.\n\n\n\nInteractive Sessions\, a VTB Simulation (active Roles and participants)\, and DT-focused presentations will be the main theme of the Event\, accompanied by Keynote Presentations\, including both Clinical and Technical Experts in healthcare\, while encompassing aspects on compliance with the EHDS and opportunities for integration with the European EHRxF format. \nThe program and more details will be shared with the attendees.

SUMMARY:47th Annual Conference of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics
DESCRIPTION:The 47th Annual Conference of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics (ISCB)\, together with the 71st Annual Conference of the German Association for Medical Informatics\, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS) is hosted from September 27 to October 1\, 2026 in Freiburg im Breisgau\, Germany. \nThe rise of AI techniques and the increased public awareness of the value of data present great opportunities to data science disciplines. In particular\, medical data sciences and application fields such as novel treatment paradigms in medicine promise great impact of methodological developments\, including transitions in research paradigms. This can optimally be achieved jointly with other disciplines\, in particular mathematics\, computer science\, and also close collaboration with biomedical researchers. \nThe ISCB GMDS 2026 Conference\, together with the CRC Small Data Symposium\, will provide a scientific platform for exchange on these exciting novel developments and discussing how these disciplines master the corresponding transitions. \neCAN Plus partners from WP9 will make an oral presentation about the Joint Action in this event.

SUMMARY:Community of Practice: Digital Health Literacy in Cancer Treatment
DESCRIPTION:Digital health literacy has emerged as a fundamental cornerstone of healthcare\, carrying profound implications that extend far beyond any single medical discipline. Recognising its critical role\, a growing network of EU projects and initiatives is currently dedicated to elevating digital literacy standards across the territory. \nTo bridge these efforts\, eCAN Plus colleagues from Work Package 5 are developing a comprehensive mapping of the current digital health landscape. This analysis will serve as the strategic foundation for our upcoming event\, which will offer a vital collaborative forum where participants will be able to strengthen peer learning\, foster collaborative problem-solving\, and support the JA’s long-term sustainability strategy.  \nPlease note: The date for this event is currently provisional and will be officially confirmed in the coming weeks. \nWe welcome expressions of interest from all professionals. If you are interested in being involved in the Community of Practice\, please complete the form to indicate your preferred topics. \nSubmit expression of interest.
