SUMMARY:47th Annual Conference of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics
DESCRIPTION:The 47th Annual Conference of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics (ISCB)\, together with the 71st Annual Conference of the German Association for Medical Informatics\, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS) is hosted from September 27 to October 1\, 2026 in Freiburg im Breisgau\, Germany. \nThe rise of AI techniques and the increased public awareness of the value of data present great opportunities to data science disciplines. In particular\, medical data sciences and application fields such as novel treatment paradigms in medicine promise great impact of methodological developments\, including transitions in research paradigms. This can optimally be achieved jointly with other disciplines\, in particular mathematics\, computer science\, and also close collaboration with biomedical researchers. \nThe ISCB GMDS 2026 Conference\, together with the CRC Small Data Symposium\, will provide a scientific platform for exchange on these exciting novel developments and discussing how these disciplines master the corresponding transitions. \neCAN Plus partners from WP9 will make an oral presentation about the Joint Action in this event.

SUMMARY:5 years EU Cancer Mission: Stronger Through Connection
DESCRIPTION:What happens when Europe connects research\, innovation\, policies\, and people around one shared goal?  Significant breakthroughs for better cancer control. \n\nTogether\, we make a difference. \nFrom 29 September to 1 October 2026\, the European Commission will bring together researchers\, clinicians\, policymakers\, patients\, innovators\, funders and industry representatives in Brussels to mark five years of the EU Cancer Mission and look at the road ahead to fully achieve its 2030 goal\, alongside the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. \nAcross three days of inspiring discussions\, interactive sessions and project showcases\, the event will spotlight breakthrough ideas\, bold collaborations and the people driving change across Europe’s cancer ecosystem. From prevention and early detection to personalised medicine\, and quality of life\, the programme will explore how stronger connections are helping transform cancer research and care across Europe. \neCAN Plus Coordinators from Sciensano will participate in a panel session on improving access and sharing of cancer data.
